The Human Factored

Questions and terms

How the platform works, and the terms everyone agrees to by using it. Last updated October 12, 2026.

Joining

Who can sign up?

Anyone with a Google account can sign up. Signing up gives access to your own draft profile only. Nothing about you is listed on this platform until the office reviews and approves it.

What do consultants pay?

Consultants pay a membership of $108 a year, the same for every tier. A consultant is listed only after the office approves the profile and records the payment. Businesses pay nothing to the platform.

What is a tier?

The office rates each consultant T1, T2 or T3 when reviewing the profile. A tier describes capability only. It never sets or suggests a price; consultants and businesses agree their own rates, and some work is done for free.

Privacy

Who can see my profile or project?

Only you and the office until it is approved. After approval it is listed for the other side only: businesses see consultants and consultants see businesses' projects. Peers never see each other.

When can we share phone numbers and email addresses?

Only after the first face-to-face meeting at the office. Until then, contact details are removed from profiles, projects and chat. After that meeting you may email or call each other directly; the chat stays the formal record.

Does the office read the chat?

Yes. The office can read every chat on the platform and adds notes about bookings and meetings.

Working together

How does a business and a consultant agree to work together?

Both sides must agree at every step. A business invites up to three consultants to a project's shortlist, and each consultant accepts before the chat opens. Either side may then propose to work together, and the other side has five days to accept or decline. The engagement starts only when both have agreed. The office may extend the five days.

Who manages an engagement?

The consultant schedules the first meeting, books sessions and keeps the chat as the record. The office keeps track.

Who can end an engagement?

The business may end an engagement at any time, for any reason, by giving a short note. The office may also end one. The consultant and the office are told.

How many engagements can I have?

Up to five active engagements at a time, for businesses and for consultants. An engagement counts from the moment both sides agree, whether or not the first meeting has happened. Shortlist invitations and open proposals do not count.

Sessions at the office

What sessions are free?

Each consultant has four free 30-minute sessions a month in the office's private space. The first meeting with a business is one of them. Each further 30 minutes is $30, charged to the consultant only. Businesses are never charged.

Where are sessions held?

In the office's private space. If it is not available, the office arranges a comparable private space, and the same terms apply.

After an engagement

Can a consultant keep working with a business directly?

No. For 365 days after an engagement ends, the consultant must not solicit, contract with or work for that business outside this platform, directly or through anyone else. The responsibility rests with the consultant. Please contact the office for details.

Terms and responsibilities

The platform introduces; it is not a party. The Human Factored provides introductions, a meeting space and a record of communication. It is not a party to any agreement between a business and a consultant, and it does not employ, supervise, endorse or guarantee any consultant, business, advice or result.

The parties are responsible. All business, consulting, advisory work, meetings, fees, deliverables, confidentiality and conduct are solely the responsibility of the business and the consultant involved. Each party is responsible for its own decisions, its own due diligence and its own compliance with applicable law.

No liability for disputes. To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Human Factored is not liable for any loss, claim, dispute or conflict between users, or arising from their work together. The office may, at its sole discretion, try to help resolve a disagreement, but it has no obligation to become involved and makes no promise about the outcome.

Ending an engagement. A business may end an engagement on the platform at any time. Ending it on the platform creates no obligation or liability for The Human Factored. Any obligations the business and consultant have agreed between themselves remain their own.

Changes to these rules. The owner may change, add to or withdraw any rule or term at any time, at the owner's discretion, effective immediately. The current version is always on this page, linked from the bottom of the home page and every dashboard. Continuing to use the platform means you accept the current version.
